Spring Competitive Season
The Spring season is all about going fast!! Rowing’s traditional season is the spring and races are fast and short! 2000meters is the Olympic Distance so if you have seen rowing on TV that is the most common distance.
White Rock Rowing will be expanding programs for ALL Dallas school children. Rowing is a fantastic way to get in shape, be active outdoors, meet new friends and be competitive as well. Our three levels of programs will begin in 2012.
Elite/Competitive - Athletes meet 6 days a week, train and compete in racing shells with the National Championships as the spring goal. Racing 2000m which takes from 7-9 minutes depending on boat type takes a great deal of training. This program is for the most competitive.
Varsity/ Advanced - Athletes meet 4-5 days a week and will train for regional championships with other local races as part of the program. Racing teams and athletes with similar goals will be key in athlete develpment. Two Spring overnight trips will be included.
Recreational/Novice - This program is designed for the first year rower who wants to learn about the sport, learn proper technique, be outside, on the water but in a less competitive situation. Local and intra team events will be stressed.
Each program will have its own fee that is outlined in the PDF below.
